Hello fellow readers!!! We are all going to tell you about what we are doing in orchestra. Next week in orchestra we will be starting instead of our small groups we will have Chamber Music. Chamber Music is where we all are going to have a certain group (Jazz, Classical, Solo and Ensemble) and we also are going to learn a certain piece of music. We are also doing pieces as an orchestra. We are playing Tuxedo Junction; Nobody Knows the Trouble I've Seen, etc. We just started these pieces. Thank you for reading our blog.
Nice day
Love your orchestra students,
Alex Wirtz
Tricia Jakusz
Elliot Jacobs
Taylor Ellison
P.S: We hope you stay tuned and read next week. Positive behavior is the key to happiness and success. Stay in school and don’t do drugs.

7th grade 2nd period orchestra
The concert was really fun and went amazing. We all had a lot of fun and did a fantastic job! We are starting new music and are doing some chamber music. We are really excited for the new songs and some of the pieces we already have are really fun like Nobody Knows the Trouble I’ve Seen, and another favorite Arethusa.
Suggestion!
At the end of the year for one of the pieces we should have some people play, and others will play percussion.

For our first concert, we will be playing a series of five pieces. We will be playing at the PAC at 7:00 PM. When we play Sansa Kroma we will not have a conductor and have to follow the beat of the percussion. Only black day students will be playing Sansa Kroma. Black day students will also be playing a piece called Postcards From Russia. After that the orange day students join us and we will play the rest of the pieces. We will be playing 3 pieces all together. We will end the concert with Ridin’ The Rails.

Our Winter concert is in 11 days! We all are very excited about our wonderful concert. We are playing 5 different pieces, and we’ve really enjoyed playing all of them. We have practiced very hard for our concert. Every other day we practice different pieces, so that way we get to go all the way through them. In my opinion I think we are totally ready for the concert! Some of our pieces have percussion instruments in them. Every piece is unique in its own way!!! We have been doing great I think and are going to do amazing. Each piece is different whether it is in length or style. So that none of the audience will get bored (ha-ha). We are very excited for our concert, and for everyone to hear us play.

Things we are doing when we aren’t playing
Every day Mrs. Buehl sets out cans with options of activities that we can do. For example, we put our Popsicle sticks in the can that says “I would like to blog today.” Our sticks got chosen, and here we are blogging. Another example is we watch different videos that are examples of different musical variations. We watched a video representing a Fugue and it had people singing different parts of a song at different times, kind of like a round. We also watched a video on ostinato on the potter puppet pals. They all made different noises to make a rhythm. After we watched the video we made our own ostinato. We got with a group and said our names in different ways. It was really fun! We also wrote poems called cinquains about our songs. We have learning communities that we do puzzles and work together to learn more about the music we are playing. Sometimes, we even do non related things to music on half days or non regular school days, like making up stories or skits.

In the past few weeks we have working on the songs: Postcards from Russia, Variations on a Well Known Sea Chantey, Sansa Kroma, An English Folksong, and we also watched a variation piece on Tinkle Twinkle Little Star. This piece was played by a little boy who is very talented at playing the piano, and the piece lasted 7 minutes. On Tuesday the 24th of October, we did an exit slip called If I Were a Variation, for this slip we had to write a variation on what the certain person would, such as a slow tempo but Fortissimo. For the week of the 24-29 we had WKCE testing and we didn’t get to come to orchestra every day and practice. In our small group lessons we are still working on Vibrato. We are also very excited about our winter concert this November. The four of us just wanted to say that Mrs. Buehl is a very talented Orchestra teacher.

6th period 7th grade orchestra
Hillo Peeps,
We play wonderful music, like English Folksong and Variations on a Well Known Sea Chantey. We have been practicing for 4-6 weeks and we have gotten very good at these pieces. Also in small group we have been learning vibrato. Vibrato is hard at first but then when you get used to it, it gets easy. We are all very talented players on our instrument. We practice and play every day really hard so we can be better than any orchestra in the world. We always tune in the beginning of orchestra so we sound our best when we play music.

Week Six of Orchestra
Kyrie: This week in Orchestra we have been working on vibrato and also our concert pieces. My favorite piece is dance scenario. It is really cool! But all of the songs that we are playing are cool. And we are learning lots of new things this year. :D
Ana: This week in Orchestra we have been working on the 16th notes in Russian Sailor’s Dance. My favorite piece is Japanese Lullaby. Its fun to play and somewhat of a challenge! :D
Caitlin: This week in “La Casa de Orquestra” we’ve been working on the 16th notes in “Fughetta in G” it’s helping us overcome the challenge of the 16th notes so we can go full speed! My favorite piece is “Folk Songs of Israel” because I know the words to the song because of my religion, so it is fun to connect the lyrics to the piece we play! :)
DeEtte: This week in orchestra we have been working on the bowing at the end of Dance Scenario. My favorite song is Dance Scenario because I like how fast it is and the contrast of it.

Orchestra 1st Quarter Blog
We love orchestra!! We love the song Ridin’ the rails. Ridin’ the Rails is a fun piece that uses mostly eighth notes with a spicatto at the beginning. This piece was composed by Richard Meyer. The next piece our everyday orchestra students enjoy playing is Sansa Kroma. This piece is a call and response piece with percussion, the percussion instruments are a drum, claves, shaker, wooden blocks. This piece was arranged by Felicia Sandler. And those are only some of our fun pieces for this quarter.

7th grade orchestra
We watched a little video about ostinato presented by the Harry Potter Puppet Pals. A pipe bomb made a ticking sound and the characters each said their names using different rhythms. They repeated their names over and over to make the ostinato. Then we made up our own ostinato patterns on our names.
In our small groups we are working on vibrato. We used shakers to work on the arm motion. We also practiced sliding our fingers along the fingerboard and changing the speed of the sliding.
We are learning more of the variations in Variations on a Well-Known Sea Chantey. What makes the new parts hard are the fast speed of some of them and changing from a fast variation to a slow one.
Sansa Kroma is one of the pieces we are learning and we played a game that goes with the song. You sit in a circle with a stick or a stone in front of you and then you pass the stick or stone to the next person following the beat of the song. We used mints instead of a stone and we ate them at the end of the game.
Last week we watched a video that showed people all over the world singing a song together. All the musicians were street musicians and the people who made the video traveled all around the world to record them singing Stand By Me. It was a really good performance and it was done by people who weren’t professional musicians.

6th period 7th grade orchestra
Lately in seventh grade orchestra we have been playing lots of interesting pieces like Sansa Kroma, The Star Spangled Banner, Variations on a Well-Known Sea Chantey, Drunken Sailor, Postcards from Russia, An English Folksong, and last but not least Kingsfold Melody. My favorite of all the pieces is Postcards from Russia. It has many different pieces in it like Minka, Meadowland and many more. As you can see we are playing lots of pieces but all are very fun to play especially with a small group of people.

In the first week of orchestra, we got to know each other. We came to class the first day and sat down. We didn’t play then because it was the first day of school. We talked about what was going on this year, talked about how the first day was going, about what we were going to go through this year. We did “mini” interviews with each other, took some pictures, and sat around and talked.
On the second day of school we started playing our instruments. Since then, that’s what we have been doing. Lately, we’ve been getting new pieces; they seem to be interesting to play.
Today is the 10th of September, since today is Friday; we are playing the Star Spangled Banner for tomorrow, which is Saturday, September 11th.
This is Tasha.
I got to conduct the orchestra one day in practice :) I love conducting and I’m really glad that I get that opportunity. Playing cello was the best decision I ever made! I LOVE IT Whoop-Whoop for Cello! (WHOOP-WHOOP!)-(Pass me Ms. Buehl I need an “A”)
This is Kyrie.
I get to help make this blog. Today we played the Star Spangled Banner. It was kind of fun. I like to play in orchestra. I play the viola and really enjoy it. I also play the bass sometimes. .0
This is Torleif.
I like to play orchestra, I play the cello, and I’m making this blog because I put this little Popsicle stick in a can. I’m glad that I’m orchestra because I enjoy it.

Hello and welcome to the 7th grade Orchestra Blog. On the first day we talked about expectations and respect for our instruments. The next day we started playing right away. Some of the music we have played in the last two weeks are “Postcards From Russia”, “Drunken Sailor”, “The Star Spangled Banner”, “Variations On a Well-Known Sea Chantey”, “Kingsfold Melody” and “Sansa Kroma”. We also have done a group activity involving candy bars. In our groups for the activity we had to make variations of a pat-clap pattern. So far we have had lots of fun in our new Orchestra class!
